"Donating blood is an act of great human kindness" and i DID it....................... on WEDNESDAY, 25 February 2009
At first, i wasn't sure whether to donate or not. After much thought..... i donate. haha...
Anyway, is my FIRST time. I succeeded. so i donated with Sandy & Alvin.
OKay. So before we could donate blood. Must go thru different stations.
First filled up the 'declaration form' Then, check our height, weight, BP....
Next, consult the doctor for further elaboration & checking out certain issues. Before i move on to the next station, i want to talk about the consulting of doctor.The doctor very funny. As me questions not related to blood or anything.Ask me.. does my email(i bet u guys know right my email) got to do with my weight since its 50... Speaking of my weight, the doctor was doubtful abt my weight. whether i am truly 49kg and not 40kg....Do i look like 40kg????????????Okay.. moving on.....
Then finger-prick test. to check our iron level in our body. Minimum to be able to donate blood is 12.5. and mine was 13.5. hehehe
Last checkpoint. The moment of truth. Blood donation.!!! haha.. many things happen la.. Me, Sandy, Alvin were crapping all the way la. I bet people might be curious why we are so HAPPY to donate blood. hahahak.. So yeah, Sandy describe to me abt the needle and stuff. And what pain to watch out. I did freak out a little when she was describing it to me. But still i did it anyway.
Before i start to transfer my blood to the blood bag, i waited for quite a long time.. abt 15mins or so.. but good thing was... i get to chat with some random people. people that i see before in school but never actually talk.. usually crapping all the way... Quite funny though. Unlike the usual me...
So my turn came.... the nurse was trying to find my veins on my left arm but couldn't find. So i had to use my right arm. Damn. So the nurse found one vein on my left, but had to wake up the vein. Hmmmm....
So the moment has arrived..........
The injecting of the anesthetic. ( sandy told me it was quite painful) But it was not as painful as i thought. Then followed by the metal needle to suck the blood to the blood bag. Inserting was not painful but when the needle start to suck the blood, you can feel the pressure of the blood going through the needle. So the sucking of blood began. played with the squeeze ball. hahak. Funny. then the ending part of donating blood. the nurse came and check the blood bag. then the worst part came which i never expect it. the nurse PRESSED my arm to see if there is still blood flowing. crap. THAT HURTS. SERIOUSLY HURT. if the nurse press one more time, i bet i'll be shouting already. but i endure.
Funny thing was that i was trying to endure the pain when the nurse pull out the needle. While trying to endure, i did not notice that the nurse has already pulled out.haha then Sandy from behind, "hey hold hold" then i realised it was already pulled out before i knew it. hahahahahakx
and so my arm was bandadge to stop the bleeding.. Nurse gave me a lotion to rub on for my BRUISE that was caused by the inserting of the needle. and so....
I SUCCEEDED IN DONATING MY BLOOD as stated WEDNESDAY, 25 February 09..
